Joined by expert panellists from AECOM, Homes England, RentPlus and Thirteen Group, Parul discussed the merits of airspace development as one of the most viable solutions to accelerating much needed housing delivery at the Built Environment Networking event. Parul gave a breakdown on various aspects of airspace including the nuanced challenges around planning and finance, as well as highlighting a serviceable market that has potential to deliver 180,000 new rooftop homes in central London alone with a combined GDV of £86bn helping to solve the housing crisis.
There were some particular synergies among the discussion with John Lewis, Managing Director of Modular Housing at AECOM, who talked about AECOM’s offsite volumetric housing solution called INNO which can deliver sustainable buildings at scale and speed. Paul Kitson, Director of High Growth and New Settlements at Homes England also praised airspace developments and suggested they would play a ‘key part in solving the housing crisis going forwards.’
It is clear that there is no one-size-fits-all answer to solving the current housing challenge, however by encouraging discussion, shared learning and innovation, as an industry we can come together to tackle it through various means, including airspace developments.
We have an unrivalled track record in unlocking opportunities through airspace, maximising value for our partners and delivering much needed new homes. Please get in touch if you think we might be able to work together.
